ABOUT ME

Reaching out for counseling can feel uncomfortable and even intimidating, especially if you’ve been carrying things on your own for a long time. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, respected, and understood from the very first session, without fear of judgment. I have over 25 years of experience working in the mental health field and over 20 years of experience as a licensed professional counselor. My work is grounded in a client-centered foundation and shaped by years of experience with individuals, couples, families, veterans, and youth (typically age 8 and up), beginning with early work in juvenile probation, alternative school settings, and family systems.

I use an eclectic, individualized approach that draws from evidence-based methods such as cognitive-behavioral strategies, solution-focused techniques, attachment-informed work, and trauma-focused approaches, including EMDR-informed interventions when appropriate. I place strong emphasis on self-awareness, healthy boundaries, and balance rather than all-or-nothing thinking, and we look at the whole picture, including emotional patterns, relationships, thought processes, sleep, stress, physical health, and lifestyle factors. On a personal level, I am a Christian, and my faith is important to me; however, therapy in my office is always client-centered and never focused on religion unless a client specifically requests that faith be part of their counseling, and many people have been hurt or judged in the name of religion, which is not something you will experience here. Counseling is a collaborative process, and while I will always be supportive and compassionate, I will also be honest and direct when patterns may be keeping you stuck, with the goal of helping you build internal stability, healthier relationships, and a more balanced life.
